Taste of Nibbana

Come practice! Nibbana is right at the tip of your nose

Taste of Nibbana.jpg

Everyone seeks bliss, but what is true bliss? Most of us get lost in material bliss. It will burn us as we become too attached to materialism and consumerism. There is another kind of bliss. It is the one that brings peace of mind. it is what the Buddha's teaching refers to as Nibbana, as bliss supreme.

Buddhadasha Bhikkhu revolutionized the interpretation of Nibbana as a state not impossible to attain nor far from reach as many people believe. In fact, “Nibbana is at the tip of one's nose. Nibbana is here and now. The moment one becomes unselfish, one has already had a taste of Nibbana.”

You can call it by any word you prefer. It is like a free sample of a product which is usually better than the one for sale. Here you can give it a try. If you like it then you can buy it so why don't you?

This exhibition progresses through five distinct areas. They collectively aim to provide experiences with Dhamma, which subsequently brings bliss, joy, and stimulates a will to sustain the temporary state of Nibbana, and to spread this feeling to society and mankind.

1. Sounds that calm the mind
Prepare one's body and mind to experience a taste of Nibbana. Examine The Giving of Dhamma Eyes, concentrate on the sound of the bell and gather the strength of tranquility within your soul.

2. Nibbana as I know it

This room represents a Spiritual Theatre. It is a contemporary multimedia presentation of Dhamma, which includes movies and Talking Stone sculptures along with words of wisdom.

3) Contemplating Nibbana

Nibbana is not far away.
It is in life's every moment.
With cool, calm consciousness,
Let go of selfishness,
Nibbana is at the tip of your nose.
Only complete consciousness of being and of every breath,
Every movement-standing, walking, sitting.
These are all tools for quieting the mind,
Bringing happiness and tranquility.

Simple, clear instructions provide guidance for practicing sitting, standing and walking meditation.

Either atop a supportive cushion or chair; treading on smooth, cobbled or rocky surfaces; practicing inside or outside, you will find the right mix of ingredients to enjoy your taste of Nibbana.

Sample that state of peace and freedom from greed, anger, and lust, that arises by being mindful of every single breath—the practice of Anapanasati the Buddha found so immensely valuable.

4) Tranquil, cool and useful
Explore Buddhadasa Bhikkhu’s life from the womb to the supramundane: the few personal belongings that marked his path of Plain Living, High Thinking; widely transmitted pieces of his Dhamma teachings; his five key Dhamma principles; and the three resolutions that guided his life and framed his will.

5) The legacy
On his 80th Birthday, almost seven years before his death, Buddhadasa Bhikkhu shared a list of 197 legacies summarizing the main points of his teachings to help people live Dhammically in a society “Just like that.” Learn how people around the world are working to advance these legacies and realize his three resolutions as they practice bringing Nibbana more deeply into their daily lives.
